ABOUT DIDYMA
Didim
is home of the impressive Apollo temple and
other nearby historical sites such as
Miletos and Priene. In ancient times Didim,
then known as Didyma, was the fortune
telling centre of the world. The Temple was
considered a holy place and attracted people
from all over Europe and Asia to seek the
advice of the oracle and learn about their
future. Today, Didim continues to attract
many visitors each year. The Temple of
Apollo is a 2000 year old site steeped in
history, with three columns still standing
to their full height and measuring almost 20
metres.
ALTINKUM
Turkey is a fascinating country with
population in excess of 65 million. Altinkum
is situated on the western Aegean coast of
Turkey, approximately midway between Bodrum
and Kusadasi. Bodrum airport is
approximately one hour in distance and Izmir
International airport is approximately one
and a half hours.
Altinkum
translated means 'Golden Sand' and the main
beach is famous for it's stretch of golden
sand, showing exactly how the area received
it's name. It is the perfect place for a
beach holiday, there are three beaches
within easy reach of the resort and the area
itself is relaxed and informal. Just beyond
the harbour is the Third beach with a
quieter environment, clear sparkling waters
and more soft golden sand. In the opposite
direction is the Second beach, again with
golden sand and blue sea and surrounded by
bars, shops and restaurants.
AKBUK
Akbuk is a charming town overlooked by
majestic green mountains and facing the calm
and blue waters of the Aegean sea. It is an
increasingly popular destination for
foreigners due to the relaxed atmosphere,
quiet beaches and stunning backdrop of
mountain forests.
Akbuk is approximately 20
minutes drive from Altinkum and set in a
sheltered bay overlooking the Bodrum
peninsular and flanked by pine forest
mountains.
The
lovely turquoise seas are clean and safe and
the long beaches are fringed by shady
eucalyptus trees, amongst which are set a
selection of bars and restaurants. Fresh
fish, such as sea bream and sea bass are
caught locally and can be sampled in any of
the excellent restaurants. There is a small
harbour where you can book a boat trip or
organise a fishing trip.
