The Concept

The Melenos-Lindos more than just a boutique hotel it is a monumental work nestled on the foothills of the acropolis of Lindos .In this unique crossroad of Greek, Roman, Venetian and Ottoman cultural influences, the hotel strikes a modest yet noble and delicate balance between the imposing nearby rocky hill that towers the acropolis and the poetic vastness of the surrounding sea.

The site does not conflict nor vies with its environment. Simple volumes and materials, cherished by the love of its proprietor for the artful, the traditional and the genuine, blend into a work of unparalleled aesthetic harmony, comfort and luxury.

Development started in 1992 on plans that took account of landscape and the intricate layout of the town of Lindos, and lasted till the summer of 2004. A host of local artisans, tradesmen, folk and design artists were commissioned in the various construction phases of this boutique hotel under the guidance of its proprietor Michalis Melenos who, since childhood, had the fortune to be coached and tutored by art lovers during their numerous visits to markets of the orient and to leading museums of the world and to draw from the rich folkloric and architectural heritage of his native Lindos.

Over the years these enlightening sojourns, together with the passion of Michalis for art and folklore, led to a rich collection of traditional embroidery, fabrics, carpets, antique furniture pieces, hand crafted pottery, tiles, copper works and ornate lighting fixtures to form part of the cozy and hospitable interior of this boutique hotel and to culminate into a legacy that is larger than life.
